Lookingglass Executives to Present at Security B-Sides and America's Growth Capital's Information Security Conference

Baltimore, MD – February 27, 2012 – Lookingglass Cyber Solutions, a leading provider of global cyber situational awareness, today announced that CEO, Derek Gabbard, and CSO, Matt Stern will co-present at Security B-Sides on February 27, 2012. Later that day, Gabbard will also speak at the America’s Growth Capital’s (AGC) 8th Annual West Coast Information Security & Emerging Growth Conference.

At Security B-Sides, Gabbard and Stern will discuss changing techniques in security implementation and policy during their presentation, “Playing to Win - Designing Protection Based on Mob Rules.” This presentation will look at how the mafia family dynamic can be applied to cybersecurity, examining what it would really take to secure the portions of the network most relevant to an organization. Gabbard and Stern will discuss the Internet as a turf war with different elements maneuvering for position within cyberspace for infractions involving losses of revenue.

AGC’s 8th Annual West Coast Information Security & Emerging Growth Conference will focus on innovative emerging growth companies in information technology. At this event, Gabbard will discuss the importance of identifying cybersecurity threats within supply chains and correlating them with internal systems and policies in order to take preventative measures before they can impact a network.

Gabbard brings over 15 years of voice and data networking and network security experience to his role as CEO at Lookingglass. He is responsible for delivering products and services to Lookingglass’ customers across the commercial, federal civilian agency and defense department communities. Gabbard also served as Senior Member of the Technical Staff at the world-renowned CERT® at Carnegie Mellon University. He was responsible for the development and delivery of information assurance and security curriculum. He developed courseware in cryptography, secure remote access methods, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and securing network infrastructure.

Stern is responsible for the strategic vision of Lookingglass, overseeing security and operations with respect to company products and services, as well as customers and industry partners. Stern is an established expert in computer emergency response team operations, military operations in cyberspace, enterprise level cyber security solutions and information operations. Prior to joining Lookingglass, Stern served three years with General Dynamics Advanced Information System as Program Director for the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), leading all efforts relating to operational, analytical and engineering support. Previously, he served as Director of Cyber Accounts for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, providing expertise in cyber-space operations to the company and its customers.
